Oak Grove Swim & Tennis Club offers swim lessons for members and non-members alike. Our instructor is Genevieve Blasius - an experienced swim teacher, Bay Area native, and a Northgate neighbor. Her guiding principles for the swim school will be: water safety, proper swim technique, and making the water fun!

Lessons run throughout the summer. Group lessons of 2-4 students occur in two week sessions, are 20-30 minutes long, and take place Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 AM to noon. Private lessons are scheduled on Fridays, from 8:00 AM to noon.

An overview of each type of class is below. For more detailed information, please email lessons@oakgroveswim.com or swimwithgenevieve@gmail.com.

Group Lessons

Group lessons are great for building overall swimming skills and giving swimmers a chance to learn from one another, with some built in play time to promote a love of the water.

There will be five two-week sessions available beginning on June 10th, running until August 16th. The group sessions are for swimmers aged 2-15. The sessions are conducted Monday through Thursday between 8:00 AM and noon, and are scheduled based on ability.

  • Session 1 - June 10th-20th

  • Session 2 - June 24th-July 4th

  • Session 3 - July 8th-18th

  • Session 4 - July 22nd-August 1st

  • Session 5 - August 5th-August 15th

Younger classes for Minnows, Angelfish, and Barracudas are 2-3 students for 20 minutes. The cost per two-week session is $95 for OGSC members, and $125 for non-members.

Older classes for Sharks and Dolphins are 3-4 students for 30 minutes. The cost per two-week session is $110 for OGSC members and $140 for non-members.

All children signed up for lessons need to have a new waiver on file for each swim year (you don’t need to fill out more than one if you participate in multiple sessions in the same year).  You can print out the waiver, and bring it to the lesson or arrive early prior to the start of the first lesson to fill one out at the pool.

Private Lessons

If someone is struggling to master a particular skill, or they are seeking further stroke refinement, or even if they simply desire more intensive one-on-one attention, private lessons are invaluable in rapid progression of swimming skills. And, private lessons have NO age limit; so, parents that have always wanted to learn to swim well enough to incorporate laps into their fitness routine, and athletes that are seeking to improve triathlon times, or work around existing injuries are encouraged to sign up!

Lessons are on Friday mornings between 8:00 AM and noon.

Two 20-minute private lessons cost $60 for OGSC members ($30 per lesson) and $80 for non-members ($40 per lesson).

Genevieve is able to arrange private and semi-private lessons at the club pre (May - mid June) and post (mid August-October) season.  These lessons are typically held on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons, and Saturday mornings.  If you are interested in making special arrangements with her to reserve a time slot and are curious about pricing and availability, contact her directly at swimwithgenevieve@gmail.com.

Note: Families enrolling multiple students are eligible for a discount of $5 off the total balance for the family per each additional student.
